Evaluation Question 3

The kind of media institution that would publish my media product would be IPC Media as they are one of the biggest publishers in media publications in the UK and therefore would be ably to distribute my media product which has a large target audience. Also as IPC Media is owned by Time Warner one of the biggest multinational media companies in the world, there would be no worry of financial support for my media product.



The advantage with the going with a big national distributor is that they would be able to effectively distribute my media product as they have the money and knowledge needing for such products as my magazine. Also the fact IPC Media doesn’t have a music magazine of the same genre as my media product therefore expanding their market. The disadvantage would be that as they are such a big corporation is that they may want some or full control of the magazine and its content which could detract from the originality of the magazine and turn it into just another soulless bland media product.
One area in which my media product could be helped by a distributer such as IPC Media is the way of financial support so my media product can be expanded to have it’s own online version or as is the way now a days is various apps across many mobile platforms, which if it was a good product would increase profit. Depending on the success of my media product it could also expand to have it’s own radio station playing the music that is inside of the magazine with various links and deals with companies such as iTunes or Spotify, which further increases the popularity of the product and of course keeps the distributer happy with increased profit.
