The technologies I used in this coursework were as follows:
1. The college computers, A majority of my media products produced were done at college because they had all the software available for me to use.
2. Memory sticks, so I could transfer my work between college and home while also having a backup incase of any lost work.
3. The camera I used to take my images was a nikon coolpix s500 which was more than capable for the task with it's variety of useful features.
4. I used Photoshop to create my magazine. The preliminary project taught me the basics of using Photoshop, which I had little to no understanding of before the beginning of the course. The main task helped me to utilise more of the functions of Photoshop. The "Quick Selection Tool" and "Magic Wand Tool" helped me to easily and efficiently modify and adjust my images in the best way. I also learnt how to use “Rulers” effectively to format my pages, this was especially useful when formatting my double page spread. One of the most important skills I learnt when using Photoshop was how to use layers. This was essential, especially in the editing process as if layers are used effectively it makes editing individual features easier too create a professional looking product. I still feel I have more to learn about Photoshop so I could create my own images and designs as there is no end to the different effects that can be created, however I feel my understanding of Photoshop's tools is now adequate to do similar tasks again.
5. Blogger, I used blogger to showcase all my work and my evaluation.
6. Flickr, I found flickr a useful tool in this project as it was easy to upload images and my final products the note feature was also very good for annotating for my evaluation questions.
7. Photography,I have never really had an interest in photography but after capturing my images for m products it has inspired me to go out and do it in my free time. As this was a bold and professional magazine I had to make sure the images I captured matched this. To do this I researched shots and angles using Google. Once I had thought of ideas for my shots and the backdrop I needed, I borrowed a digital camera. I then shot my DPS model using a mid to long shot due to the essence of the magazine. For my front cover model, I achieved a studio affect by using professional lighting.
